Meet Mimi!

I want to introduce you to Mimi [Naomi]!  Mimi is 39 years old and lives with our friends Clint and Karen in San Cristóbal de las Casas so she can be closer to her husband.  About a year ago her husband Samuel was accused of a crime that he did not commit. Due to the crooked government he is sitting in a Mexican prison. [The case is actually not even on file anymore because the accuser recanted her case.]  The lawyers that were going to help ended up crooked as well so, there he sits and waits.  But, Samuel waits in the name of the Lord.  His faith is strong.  Mimi’s faith is strong.

I tell you this story so you can pray for Samuel to be released from prison ASAP.  While he sits in a Mexican jail cell we can pray.  Our God can move mountains,  tell the oceans when to stop, he breaths life into man…He CAN get Samuel out of jail!  He’s all about the rescue.  He always has been.  That’s what He is in the process of doing right this very minute.  Let’s join together praying for these special people.  Psalm 144:11 says this:

 deliver me;
 rescue me from the hands of foreigners
 whose mouths are full of lies,
 whose right hands are deceitful

One of the things that we brought with us down here was a diamond band for Mimi.  She and Samuel have been married for 16 years, but has never had a wedding band.  Karen had one sent to our house so we could bring it down with us.  Needless to say she when she opened up the box and saw what it was her face said it all.   She told me she prays that Samuel gets out of prison soon and that God will provide them “Uno Bambino.”  So y’all, thats what we are going to pray!

Lights! Camera! Acción!

Our church uses words like goer.……sender…….giver…….and I am always trying to figure out what category I am in. YES I am a goer [I go all the time...you name it I go....to church, to the grocery store, to school, to games, with my husband...YES I am a sender [I send people out the door every day, I send my husband out on tour, I send people out around the world to share the story of Jesus] And YES I am a giver [I give to our church, to our kids, to friends, family, ministries, non profits, and long and short term missionaries in all the parts of the world]  BUT, even though I found myself in those categories I was still not completely satisfied that those words fit me........I was in a conversation with the Lord over this.  [He is used to me coming to Him and asking Him to help me figure out myself.]  Within a few minutes of me talking to Him a verse from the Book of James came straight to my heart.  James 1:22 says, "Don’t just listen to the word. You fool yourselves if you do that. You must DO what it says."

That's it....I am a DOER!  A Doer is one who is a doer of the action!  I LOVE action!  And I love all the synonyms of doer: performer, perpetrator, executor, accomplisher, agent, and one who is a doer of unspeakable deeds!  The word AGENT [a person or thing that takes on an active role or produces a specified effect] stands out to me because I am an agent...aren't we all to take on an active role when it comes to the Story of Jesus and building up His Kingdom?  If we are doers of what God's word says and not just hearers only, then Yes we are apart of the ACTION!

So, all that said the Reeves Party of 6 is heading to Mexico tomorrow and going to be Doing lots of stuff……We will be working with an orphanage called Casa Canaan. [It is in Chiapas Mexico almost to the Guatemalan border]  We will also be visiting and encouraging other families that live and serve these people full time! The people that we are staying with work with men and women in the Mexican prisons and also work with the women in the surrounding villages helping them provide for their families.  Needless to say there will be lots to DO and we are ready!

This blog is not only for us to have a memory of our first Reeves party of 6 mission trip, but also for YOU to be introduced to the things God is doing in this part of the world!  I pray that through these faces, stories, and experiences our faith will be increased...yours and ours.
